First post

This is my first post, and I am still trying to figure this out. Bare with me.

I am reluctant to say that summer is nearing its end, but glad to be heading off for my first semester at Purchase. This summer has been very basic. I worked, once again, at HMP, where time seems to stop, life moves in reverse, and the drama never ceases. When I was not slaving in the hot sun, I spent most of my spare time with Zachary, my lover (he will hate that I refered to him as that, but I like it). We spent a good amount of time loving, arguing, and traveling. I felt that it was important to concentrate on US this summer, and no one else, which is hard to do in the cove at times, but we accomplished it. Though we did alienate ourselves from a lot of old friends, I feel like we both learned a lot about who we can count on in the future. Now we are anxiously anticipating the beginning of a long distance relationship. Yes, we are both nervous, but know that its got to be done. Our motto has been: If we can make it through this, we're GOLDEN.

This upcoming week I will be packing, working, and probably crying a bit here and there. I will miss a lot about the cove. The fact that you know everyone you see during a 24 hr. period, or could at least find some connection to them. The knowing that whatever you do your parents will find out about it. The ideology that everyone on your street has a say in your yard and house appearance. Of course the church bells that seem to go off every hour on the hour. And most of all the horse and buggies. OK I lied, won't miss that at all. Anyway, I know those don't seem like much, but knowing that I will be around none of that makes me nervous. The closer I am to leaving, the more I appreciate living in the closest thing to Mayberry. Enough of that now, I don't like seeming weepy.

This past Friday I threw an end of the summer party and got to spend one last night with good friends. This Saturday is my goodbye party with my family and my momma is cooking me a good homemade meal. Fried chicken, mac salad, hand picked sweet corn, and baked beans. Hehehe, I love it!

Well, I hope you enjoyed my first post! Above is a picture of the good ol' Tracotr Parade held every 4th of July weekend.
I'll write again soon. I am sure you can hardly wait!

Love, Liv
